Of course it is and a fine Friday it is, indeed. :cool:

Been a bit busy here of late. Last year I bought a Sony VAIO laptop that is a Dual Core system with HD audio and video built into the motherboard. It came with Vista Home Premium and the OS works but would not run Sony's own audio and video software properly.

Well, I used Partition Commander and System Commander to partition off a space and loaded XP Pro onto the laptop. Man, not only does all the AV software work but the machine screams - runs many times faster and more efficiently than Vista. The same company that makes Partition and System Commander, Avanquest, even has a driver download service that found most every XP driver the laptop needed. The only thing it couldn't find was the XP driver for the internal HD modem. So, I use an external, USB modem when running under XP.

So now my laptop will boot into either Vista or XP so I can use the best of both OSes. Plus I can now process all audio recordings in the HD standard (24 bit at 96KHz sample rate). That allows for much more clarity especially in the upper end of the auio band.

For the coming weekend - there are a few powwows going on and I may attend part of one. There are the usual chores like Spring cleaning and the usual laundry.

Thanks for asking, 2nd. She's doing as OK as is usually possible for a young, almost teen. She's still only 12 but going on 25 to hear her talk. Typical pre-teen. :)

well, Chero, usually when we link screaming and sex in the Friday thread, we AREN'T talking computers!

No idea what I'm doing this weekend. Probably some gardening. Things are growing like crazy... Things that look the best right now: sweet peas, lavender, a pink geranium, and the bleeding heart that miraculously came back from the dead! And this orange wildflower thing that is the same color as a CA poppy, but grows in a small bush. Butterflies love it.

Wish I could garden - still too cold! We had a great warm day yesterday, but there's a storm front moving in and today and tomorrow should be wet and cold.

Tomorrow I'm getting together with a sister to put together the invitations to my parents 50th anniversary in June. Hard to come up with something that recognizes the marriage still exists and they still love each other, when Mom can't talk or really understand anymore. She does understand emotions and love, though.

And so we will honor what they had, and honor enduring love in any form, and celebrate the legacy of that love. In 1.5 hours in the dining room at the nursing home ;-)
