Ok today is my sister's and my dog's Birthday. The herons, buzzards and skunks are all back, the daffs are peeking up. Cooking sweet potatoes for the dog, he went vegan on me because of allergies, and that is his big treat! Call sis later and have a glass of wine with her over the phone.
School work & got to get the taxes done.... What are you all sleeping in , or on vacation, or something???

Happy Friday.... oh its Saturday... Homework for me.... only 4 weeks left till graduation. YAY! I can't wait, I'm tired of school. What do you all think of destination weddings. No not mine, I was invited to one. Just wondering if you all think it is necessary to attend..

Good luck, AMC. I graduated last spring, Mother's Day. When Fall semester came, I missed the stimulation of school, but I was over that by Thanksgiving!
We've been invited in the past few years to two destination weddings. Both occurred during the school year. We skipped one to Cancun in October but we did send a gift card. We attended one in Florida last April and used the occasion to take the younger kids to Disney World.
Seems they are getting popular. My daughter has chosen to marry in Las Vegas in July. We have more than 30 family and friends attending.
Will the couple follow up with a reception back home for family who can't make the wedding? I'm in the middle of planning such a reception now because the bride-to-be has many "older" relatives who can't make the trip.

I think what they used to call an "At Home" afternoon is a lovely idea for these kinds of situations. Because there will always some who want to wish the couple well, stop by and bring a present, do a little rejoicing with them, or, just vicariously, let some of that wedding celebration rub off but can't go to the wedding.
And an at home is much cheaper than a reception. 2-4 pm. Punch and petite fours or those little sandwichs or something. Or a barbeque. Whatever the couple can afford. And good practice for other home parties as a couple in the future.
Oh lordy, when did I get so old-fashioned!

Destination weddings sound very expensive, how much does the bride & groom chip in, and do you need to bring a gift? A friend of mine went to one in Bali a few years ago, and was shocked how she could rationalize how much money she spent! She soon stopped drinking all together after that!
I just got this in and watched it several times~ Whoa my galloping heart, very cool!!

Steamy... Lorenzo is amazing.
The wedding is in Hawaii...
I had been planning a trip to Italy and I won't be able to spring for both. So I don't know what to do.

Have you been to Hawaii? How close are you to the couple? Will there be other people along for the trip with whom you would enjoy vacationing? If you are close to the couple I would suggest attending the wedding because they will only be married once. At least together :o
Perhaps you could visit Italy next year.
