Good morning everyone, it's Friday and it's August!! Summer is almost over and it's going to be a wonderful weekend in Motown. So what are you plans??

You beat me to it!

Let's see, my plans were to jump on my treadmill but I'm here instead ;-)

Seriously, nothing planned except my company picnic on Sunday - taking GS (they have bumper boats, our favorite!) Manfred has to work again.

It's supposed to be a wonnerful weekend here in the NE, too. Maybe even a bit cool.

:)

I'm playing hooky from work. I was stressing out at 5am about all I had to do and get down and wondering how I would take care of things.

I took care of it by calling in sick and tired.

I have laundry going, I have finally unpacked from my trip. I am on my way upstairs to clean the kitchin. I'm going to go run my errands this afternoon that were stressing me out and make my phone calls.

As for the rest of the weekend...I'm not sure. I could go on a bird watching hike on Sat. Or I could get my garage ready to be painted. Sunday I am going on a hike.

Or I could go to Woodward and watch the cars cruise by.....I know nothing about cars but I like to watch the old ones drive by.

I always seem to get more done when pressed for time than when I have the time. If that makes sense.

Planning to show an investment property tonight to a prospective renter, with hopes that I won't have an empty unit for long. Dinner on Sat night with my lady friends; it takes us about 2 months to find a time that works for a group of 5 busy ladies, so this is something to look forward to! Plan to groom a mare I care for, whom I haven't seen in 2 weeks due to my vacation last weekend. Spend time with SO, whom I also haven't seen much of in the past couple of weeks. Enjoy my house. Relax. Sleep. Be thankful..... All good!

Hi all... haven't done a Friday thread in a while.

Tonight is date night again - we're going to see "Stardust" and then have dinner. This weekend will be a whirlwind of haircut, manicure/pedicure, shopping and packing because on Sunday night I am flying to London for a week. My firm is sending me over to our main office across the Pond so I can meet with all the folks over there, meet with my vendors' London staffs and also spend a day in Colchester, where our global IT department is based. They've got some interesting social stuff planned and I get to spend next Saturday in London on the company as a pure tourist. I'll even get to spend some time with an old friend who is a Londoner and whom I haven't seen in about 14 years. I wish that ArtGuy could come over with me, but he can't get away from work.

Princess is convinced I will come back speaking with a British accent. I just want to ride the London Eye and take a tour bus around the city. This is the fulfillment of a life-long dream.

ej, Watch the Gap! (You'll know what this means once you're there traveling around the city .....) Have fun!!

If you mean a gap at the train stations, we have that problem over here with the LIRR. Someone actually died last year when she fell through and many people have been injured, myself included. I cracked the bone in my right leg when I fell through the gap at Penn Station while boarding a train. Not fun at all.

This weekend my oldest son is moving back here. He's already got the room rearranged and some of his stuff in it. The rest will follow over the next two weeks. It will cost him less to move back here and drive the 180 mile daily round trip to finish his training in aviation mechanics that it would to renew his lease in an overpriced and under maintained apartment.

We have a Cherokee moon gathering tomorrow night. As usual I get to conduct an intro class on the language and will likely be asked to sit at the drum. I'm not really a drummer but when there aren't many who do drum I guess I can fill in well enough.

Sunday was to be spent, in part, with some friends who moved back down to Florida after 2 years in Washington. They loved Washington, the state, for its beauty but unfortunately old Stone Bear's arthritis and other medical problems just got worse with each month they stayed there.

Anyway, now on Sunday I'll be helping my neighbor take off Win Millennium and put XP on her 'puter.

Other than all that, I'll just vegetate, er, um, . . . I mean cogitate on a few things. :)

I just had a wake up call about listing and showing a home.

Even though my agent has listed in the MLS to give a one or two hour courtesy call before showing, this dingbat agent calls me from the driveway... leaves a VM ...(I was on the phone) and proceeds to walk right in 15 seconds later without even knocking or ringing the d@mn door bell. Needless to say they made a quick retreat from the foyer when Lucky met them with his ferocious barking.

I did show them the home but how inconsiderate to just walk right in. This is no new subdivision home with a big open sign out front. With the heat, I could have been wearing my BVD's which is likely or since it's Friday been having wild sex in the living room. :p

Needless to say, I have learned my lesson to lock the front door and pull the lock box in when I'm home.

I'd have been tempted to put on some very brief leathers and come out with a whip and chair asking something liker "Who's first?", Pool. :)

Hey ej! Howdy!

Take the double-decker tour bus in London, an go see the Tower of London. That's probably all you'll have time for in one day, but it's very kewl day!

Glad you're doing ok, been wondering where you went!

I've been around, Willow. Just really really busy these days with work and home.

Yes, the tour bus is on my agenda for next Saturday - my tourist day - along with the London Eye and checking out the West End for a cheap ticket to a show. I just went to the bank and exchanged some dollars for pounds. Ouch. Let's just say I am glad that most of my meals are being hosted by others.

Hey EJ I was thinking the same thing, glad all is well! Ditto the Tower of London, that was my favorite place to take visiters when we lived there, and also check if any races are going on close by, a wonderful slice of the British people and traditions.

I have heard through many people that the British Isles have had some major social changes. Not sure if it is true, but heard the #1 name for a baby male in London was Mohammed, when I was there I think it was Nigel...

I in the same boat as AMC, doing papers for end of term. Took middle & youngest back to school shopping, OH my aching checking account, not to mention my heart...

Also got another settlement offer off to X's lawyer...I know , I know don't comment, but it sure would be nice if just as all the kids leave home, the darned divorce cloud dissapates!

is it Friday? I've been on vacation, so I lost track. I missed a meeting Tuesday night of our animal group, and I'm president! I had just gotten home from a short trip, and completely forgot until last night.

Tomorrow morning we are cleaning my folks' carpets and weeding their little bit of a flower bed. Then I think I'll do the last 2 rooms with carpet in our house since I have the machine all day. It's suppoed to be a nice day, so the windows can open for drying.

Have a great weekend.

Bon Voyage ej!!!

For all the gardeners out there.....

I just saw the best pumpkin patch I have ever seen and it shocked me to realize a woman grew them. <JK> In a 6x20 raised flower bed behind her house she has at least 25 to 30 giant pumpkins in such a small area. They are all twice the size of a basketball! I know you don't care but I still had to share this. The only one I ever grew that big came from left over Jacko lantern carving and my collie rolled it down the hill.

poolman, you are a punkinhead! Stop those sexist thoughts!

Is her pumpkin patch very sincere?

poolman

Me sexist? I'm serious! I respect a master gardener.... even if she is a woman. The pumpkin patch is a real story and I have called everyone but Santa Clause to find out how she did it.

... this dingbat agent calls me from the driveway... leaves a VM ...(I was on the phone) and proceeds to walk right in 15 seconds later without even knocking or ringing the d@mn door bell.

LOL. One thing I don't miss about putting one's house on the market. I was once taking care of my neighbor's three kids and my two, and a realtor walked right in after ringing the doorbell. The house looked like a bomb hit it...unmade beds, play-dough all over the kitchen table. I took the kids in the back yard. The potential buyers looked at me like I was nuts. I'm glad I didn't have to overhear their comments.

That does bring back bad memories. My one agent was always doing that, giving 5 min or less notice and then being pissed that the place wasn't show ready. Or if she did give notice, not bothering to call when the showing fell through. But what really upset me was one time I was racing out of the house as she was walking in with another agent and the people looking and I made a comment about little notice. The other agent said "oh that's odd, we called yesterday." Which gave me an idea of little my agent thought of my listing.

I hated that woman. The second agent was much better, one time when he gave little notice he came by early and helped me pick up fast.

Trying to decide about the bird watching hike. I seem to have devoloped a cold during the night and can barely breath.

I hate having colds on the weekends. I did get all my little errands ran and some things done. It just helped my frame of mind so that I wasn't all stressed out and wierd feeling.

Of course maybe the cold was starting then and that's why I was feeling so out of it.

I have learned to keep the house looking neat at all times so I don't have to do a 1 hour power clean. I have in the past used someones idea of shoving all the laundry in the dryer. LOL I use one sheet on top of the fully made master bed so all I have to do in the morning is straighten out a few wrinkles and hide the sheet. Voila' perfectly made bed. :)

Saturday afternoon..Just one more assignment that has to wait till tomorrow.

In my dining room I counted 15 college kids that have known each other since grade school doing their fantasy football draft. Just blows me away to see what has happened to their little boy faces and bodies..many went to different highschools, almost all at different colleges. I can hear them telling old stories & teasing each other. They all knew Bogey as a puppy, and were so delighted to see him, and when they were little I never got hugs from them, but today they stood in line today.

They all stay in touch through face book, not My Space, it is one of the good things I like about this new media. they will all be scattered again in the next few weeks, they all played football through highschool, and some still at the college level...but this keeps them in touch!

Just warms my heart....
