My DOL friends, I have noticed that our site has been hijacked and, in a truly nefarious bit of meddling, made to look different, like those scary little faces that now inhabit the far right side of my screen, especially the one with the really BIG teeth. (Do you see them too? If not, then I need counseling.) I have reported all these illegal changes to ADMIN and expect that things will be returned to normal very soon. My guess is that he is on vacation and that these frightening things have been engineered by a cabal of trolls.

That is to avert any type of scripted malicious attack on the server... because these types of programs rely on scripted commands, there is always the risk of someone launching an auto responder of sorts that would flood the board with artificial posts... hence causing an unusual load on the server. Or even someone just sitting here pasting a message into the board over and over... to be malicious. So, in essence, if they sat here for an hour, the may make about a 100 posts... not very much fun in that. :)

Not to cause any undue panic here, but does anybody else think that the Himself on this board seems a little less - well, I'll just come out and say it - funny than the previous-board Himself? I'm not saying that this-board Himself isn't really funny. I'm just saying that old-board Himself was at least 3-5% funnier on the ANSI standard hilarity scale.

I'm also not saying that the this-board Himself isn't exactly the same Himself as the old-board Himself (except for the obvious age difference). I'm just saying we should all remain vigilant.

I believe the more reserved and less hilarious Himself is a strategy by the server to reduce malicious intent as in to the server Himself. It could be the structure in the "commands". Yes, indeed, tis a coherent observation:cool:

It looks like I was given "bad marks" by someone because I attempted humor on this and another thread. I finally go caught. How many bad marks can I get and still be on this board? There is something seriously wrong with a system that gives me bad marks. This is just ike the time in 3rd grade where I failed math just because I didn't show my work (or my answers either).
